The Case offers food at lunchtimes Wednesday to Sunday, and evenings Wednesday to Saturday. We strongly recommend booking, we can get very busy! That’s particularly important if your party is bigger than 4 people. If there’s more than 8 of you, we ask that you phone up and pre-order a few days in advance.
Weekday lunchtimes we have paninis with a choice of filling, and traditional pub meals.
On Sunday we have Roast Dinners, with a choice of meats, plus a selection from our evening menu.
There is a slightly longer menu in the evenings, extending the menu with a few specials – perhaps venison and game in the Autumn, or a burger-with-everything to eat in the garden in the summer.
For desserts, we offer classics such as fruit crumble, Bakewell tart, cheese cake, and ice creams from Alder Carr farm.
We offer a children’s menu with top-quality perennial favourites.
If you have any special dietary needs, please ask, and we’ll produce something to your requirements.
As a guide, our starters are around £4.50, and main courses are £9.50, with smaller portions of some main courses at £7.50. Specials are typically £10.00 to £15.00. Children’s portions at £4.50.
Our food is sourced locally; Dingley Dell pork and Riverside beef come from East End Butchers in the neighbouring village of East Bergholt. Vegetables are from local sources where possible. In season we have locally caught fresh fish and game.
As we cook on the premises, our exact menu varies with season and available produce.
We pride ourselves on our real ale selection, the quality of which has been officially recognised with Cask Marque accreditation, and an entry in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. In addition to our regular Adnams Southwold, we have three local “guest” beers each week – visit every week to sample all of them! Recent guest beers have been supplied by Adnams, Calvors, Cliff Quay Brewery, Earl Soham Brewery, Colchester Brewery, Old Cannon, Lacons, Mauldons, Mighty Oak, Nethergate and Woodfordes.
Our lager selection includes Carlsberg and San Miguel, with Cyder from Aspalls of Suffolk. The local orchard supplies apples to them! We also have Guinness for those who love their Irish stout, plus a variety of bottled drinks. We stock a range of whisky, gins and other spirits.
We have an interesting wine list, with selections available by the glass (small, medium and large). Or for your meals, why not have a carafe or bottle to share ?
We have fruit juices, and sometimes some interesting local apple juices. We also offer coffees, including latté, expresso and capuccino, hot chocolate and tea.
For accompanied children, we have free glasses of squash. We have a large garden for them to play in if they get bored inside, and the village play area is right next door!
